Pansy Padparadja

1991 AAS Flower Winner

Padparaja (Pa pa ra’ja) is a true orange pansy that retains the orange color under heat stress conditions.  The deep orange, pumpkin color, stood out at AAS Flower Trials across North America.  Padparadja is named after the rare and valuable orange sapphire originally found in Sri Lanka.

Padparaja can be grown as a flowering bedding plant for spring or fall.  The two-inch blooms are produced on stems held above the foliage.  In garden trials, Padparaja continued to flower under hot, humid August conditions.  The heat and weather tolerance were above average.
