Sometimes, the best way to see a garden is with VIDEO walk-throughs like this one, complete with drone images! And doesn’t every garden need a Purdue Pete scarecrow to watch over things? The Master Gardener Association of Tippecanoe County decided that the best way to interpret this year’s theme was to create their AAS Display Garden front and center at the community garden’s entrance, with Purdue Pete there to caution everyone to “mask up.” The tomato patch demonstrated social distancing by being planted in cages that were 6′ apart (clever!). As the MG learned how many people were wanting to try gardening for the first time, they launched the HOPE campaign where H stood for “How to” and “Help,” O was for “Opportunity,” P is for “Persistence” (a gardener’s virtue) and E was for having “Excellent” seeds to plant (AAS Winners).
