Third Place Winner (tie): William Dam Seeds, Dundas, Ontario

Because 2020 is the 25th birthday of the Wave Petunias, William Dam Seeds honored that celebration by creating a vibrant entrance exclusively of Purple Wave Petunia, an All-America Classic award winner. They planted a 145-foot row of it next to their driveway for a vibrant and welcoming entrance. In hindsight, with all the drive-in events that COVID has created, Their AAS Display Garden is perfectly suited to be a drive-by experience! For garden visitors who did want to walk the gardens, variety markers were strategically placed so people could still socially distance while viewing the flowers and vegetables. To enlarge the viewing audience, William Dam Seeds did Facebook Livestream tours of the AAS Display Garden with great results. This Hans Christian Anderson quote was quite the motto for this garden this year: “Just living is not enough,” said the butterfly. “One must have freedom, sunshine, and a little flower.”
